UniSA Lacrosse take bronze at the Southern Uni Games!!!

Posted By Luke Oswald on 7/07/2017

UniSA Lacrosse have won the bronze medal at the 2017 Southern Uni Games, which have just concluded in Geelong.

Our crack squad of six was reduced to five just a few minutes into our first match, when Caitlyn suffered a badly sprained ankle that cruelly ended her tournament, leaving us to play the remainder of our matches without subs.

Despite this setback, and a first up loss to Swinburne (1), Team UniSA rallied for their remaining matches with victories over Adelaide Uni, Swinburne (2) and Australian Catholic Uni, to finish level with Swinburne (1) and Adelaide, but seeded 3rd on goal difference.

Our semi final was a rematch against Adelaide Uni, and in a tight tussle we went down by a solitary goal. However the disappointment was soon washed away when we beat ACU in the 3rd place game to bring home the bronze. Swinburne (1) defeated Adelaide in the final to claim the inaugural Uni Games lacrosse tournament.

Word is that next year's Uni Games will take a new format and we will be heading to the Gold Coast to go (hopefully) two better!
