The University of South Australia has won the 2017 SA Challenge, an intervarsity sporting competition between UniSA, Flinders University and the University of Adelaide.

Team UniSA who had by far the largest student representation, competed in eight different sports over two days, winning both Lacrosse and Squash.

It was a one-two finish for UniSA in Lacrosse, while UniSA also dominated the podiums in Squash, finishing first and second in the men's competition and first and third in the women’s. Sean Drechsler won the men’s, while Netra Nair came first in the women’s.

UniSA also had strong results in the Tennis, finishing first and third in the men’s, and third in the women’s.

In other notable results, UniSA finished second in both the Lawn Bowls and Beach Volleyball competitions, and third in Ultimate and Fast5 Netball.

UniSA fielded three teams in the Badminton competition - two more than last year - and finished fourth against quality opposition.

Overall, UniSA Sport was really pleased with the participation rate, with almost 90 UniSA students competing across the eight sports.

These participation numbers and good results are what lead to Team UniSA being crowned number one in the state in 2017. This is something Team UniSA will be hoping to replicate at the Southern University Games and Australian University Games later this year.
