The Riverside Rowing Club is pleased to be the endorsed Rowing Club for UniSA Sport providing fantastic opportunities for UniSA Students. With a long history (founded in 1943) focusing on masters rowing (27 years and above) the club is excited to extend the focus through the partnership with UniSA Sport. The partnership ensures that while you study at UniSA, regardless of whether you want to compete at an elite or competitive level or simply have some fun and increase your fitness, Riverside has a range of options to suit you!
You will row in a variety of boats however usually we will row in fours, quads and eights, as they are more stable for beginners. Depending on numbers, the crews will consist of other UniSA members but you may get the opportunity to row with our experienced master rowers.
We train at the River Torrens shed on the city side of the Torrens Lake, a 5-minute walk from UniSA City West campus. There is free parking on the sealed access road behind the club after 6:00pm. There is also an option to train at West Lakes; this is useful if you are interested in racing.
We train almost every Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm and on Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm where we also have a BBQ, which gives the members an opportunity to get to know each other outside of the boat. Please send us an email if you are planning on coming so we can book boats etc! No matter what your skill level, we always welcome new students.
It is recommended you wear close fitting gym clothes; it is a hazard to wear loose clothing as it can get caught in the seat or the oars. No shoes are worn in the boat however we suggest you bring a pair of socks to wear in the boat. Our club colours are red, yellow and green; there is range of merchandise that is available which you can purchase.
For beginners through to experienced rowers, there are opportunities to compete in regattas. If you do choose to race, all members of the crew are expected to wear the same club colours- the zootie is the best option for racing.
The link below takes you to the uniform purchases.
Prior to joining the club UniSA students must be UniSA Sport members, free for students.
UniSA Students are offered a junior membership with Riverside Rowing Club that entitles them to all club facilities, coaching and training at a great price. The membership season is a full year beginning in March; the cost is only $250 (Plus once off $100 joining fee). It is not necessary to begin at the start of the season; you may join at any time.
If you are interested in racing, there are additional costs from Rowing SA.
