Shengbao (Colin) Ma is a UniSA staff member who works in the Education School at Magill campus. Colin began attending the Magill gym in 2018 to lose weight and his persistence and hard work soon paid off.
What made you sign up as a member at the gym and how has your time at the gym helped you?
I wanted to lose weight and had a certain goal weight in mind at the start. I try to go to the gym five times a week for about one and a half hours. I was very successful, between August and December in 2018 I lost 22 kilograms.
What did you do to lose so much weight?
I tried lots of different things, whatever the staff told me and it was all very helpful. I tried everything in the gym, but my favourite part was running, I do five kilometers a day.
As a UniSA staff member, how convenient is it to use the facilities alongside your work?
It’s very easy to use the gym as a staff member, I generally go before or after work and recommend other staff to do the same.
What do you like about training at UniSA Sport facilities?
The UniSA Sport team is fantastic, the staff are very warm and friendly at Magill and the gym is very clean. I have seen students who even after they have finished studying and they start working at different places, they still come to the Magill gym. It’s great alumni and staff are involved. The Magill gym is like my second home, every time I come here I really enjoy it.
