As we near the end of 2024, we wanted to provide an update on the Sport at Adelaide University project, so you have clarity heading into 2025.
Lots of work and consultation has been completed in 2024 which will allow us to make an informed decision about the future operating model next year.
The Kinetica Group was engaged to consult on the project and they completed UniSA Sport and Adelaide University Sport & Fitness (AUSF) department and sport sector reviews, along with beginning an engagement program with key stakeholder groups.
Stakeholder engagement included workshops and 1:1 interviews and feedback loops, with all those insights helping to inform the future operating model.
Alongside Kinetica’s work, Savvy B was brought on the project to review all of UniSA Sport and AUSF club constitutions, risks and considerations, as well as reviewing competitions and competition requirements, club composition and committee structure.
The Sport Working Group is now considering Kinetica and Savvy B’s recommendations and transition implementation plans, with the Adelaide University leadership approval processes of the final operating model to commence in January.
With that work complete, The Kinetica Group have been re-engaged to conduct a facilities audit and master plan as part of the Sport at Adelaide University project. The scope of the project includes conducting a facilities audit of existing facilities and developing a needs assessment for the sports grounds and facilities required for Sport at Adelaide University, including academic teaching requirements, club use, gyms, on campus activation and intervarsity sport.
While there is still work to be done to finalise the future operating model, we can confirm the following aspects will feature in Sport at Adelaide University (please note this list is not exhaustive):
• Affiliated sports clubs
• Intervarsity sport
• Sportsgrounds, indoor facilities and gyms
• Work-integrated learning
• On campus student engagement, such as social sport
• Elite athlete support and development including financial, academic and allied health support
• Governance, risk and insurance support
• Alumni and community participation and engagement, including events.
This project provides an opportunity to increase participation and reach, improve access to resources and enhance the overall sporting experience.
The vision for Sport at Adelaide University is ambitious. There is a unique opportunity to create the best university sports offering in Australia, placing sport and its broader health, wellbeing and inclusion benefits as one of the defining characteristics of Adelaide University.
We will make sure that you and all AUSF and UniSA Sport stakeholders are kept up to date as soon as decisions are made and are supported throughout the transition to Adelaide University.
We thank you for your involvement in the process so far and appreciate your patience as we take the time to make the most informed decision about the future of Sport at Adelaide University.
