The UniSA Motorsport Club is a design and engineering team that runs as a business to manage, build and race an open wheel car in the FSAE-A competition. Since 2002, the club has consisted of students from various disciplines and schools, with an interest in managing, designing and building a motorsport team and car. For more information on this unique club, read our latest #TeamUniSA profile!
We currently have 43 members.
Our club competes in the Annual Formula Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia (FSAE) competition! In this competition, we design and manufacture an open wheel electric race car. We go to Winton, Victoria to compete against other university teams around Australia (although that might be different this year!)
Last year we won the UniSA Sport Club of the Year award, while our previous president won the UniSA Sport Club Administrator of the Year award. Our club also won the FSAE Harry Watson Innovation Design award for our custom made battery packs. We are proud of our accomplishments and hope to keep outputting amazing work!
During our downtime we have focused on improving the design of our project with our online CAD models. Once we are back in the workshop, we will be able to improve our car and test it!
From the club perspective, our favourite part of being with UniSA Sport is the support we get in running our club and the access to a wide discipline of students that bring an amazing list of skills to our club.
From a student perspective – we love the opportunities we get to be active and enjoy university while I study. It's given us the chance to work with amazing people and make new friends!
If you wish to join our club, please go to our website and hit 'Join'. You can meet some of us in M1-08 at the Mawson Lakes campus, or you can join in our club meetings! (Our meetings will resume after the exams are over, so make sure you study 😉)
By the way – you don’t have to be in an engineering degree to join us! We have many tasks in the club that require business or design skills, so if you are unsure, email us and we’ll get back to you – ene-formulasae@unisa.edu.au
