#TeamUniSA Profile: UniSA Table Tennis Club

Joel Lahnstein

The UniSA Table Tennis Club offers training and competitions, delivered in a welcoming environment for both new and experienced players. Equipment is available for all members to use during their sessions.

What events/competitions/activities has the club been involved in over the past 12 months?

We have a social session every Saturday. In the session, our members can have hit with others members or with their friends. We also have an Australian accreditated coach provide some training for our members. We hold a competition in July which has two different divisions, one is for beginners and one is for advanced players. The reason we make the competition two divisions is to make it more accessible to a greater variety of players and it also gives everyone a chance to win a game and potentially win a prize! After all, the most important thing is to enjoy playing table tennis.

Outline some of your club or club member achievements?

Last year we held an University friendly competition with Adelaide University. Firstly, we played the round robin and our team had the winner, runner-up and second runner-up. Then we played the top 10 players of UniSA vs Adelaide Uni. All #TeamUniSA players won and our team won the university title.

How has your club adapted to being online in terms of engaging with your members?

We have created a fun table tennis challenge – ‘Hit and Bounce’. Our members have to use any object, apart from a table tennis bat, and they can use any kind of balls to try bounce the ball on the objects ten times. Then, they have to post it on their social media and tag our page to get a prize.

How can people join your club?

To join our club, you do not need to be a professional table tennis player. We welcome all standard players. Being a member only costs $10 for UniSA students or $15 for non-students. To join visit our website.
