UniSA Tennis Club

General

Do I have to be a UniSA student to be a member of UniSA Tennis?

No, not at all! UniSA Tennis welcomes everyone to be involved in tennis. However, as a UniSA club, we do offer membership discounts to UniSA students.

Can I join the UniSA Tennis Club as a complete beginner?

Of course, we encourage everybody to participate! We will try our best to match people with the same level of experience. It's all about practice and having fun.

How do I join the tennis club?

To become a member of UniSA Tennis, you will first need to become a UniSA Sport member, which is FREE for UniSA students and $25 for staff, alumni, and the community (click here to join). Next, your UniSA Tennis membership cost depends on your involvement with the club - see the menu or the FAQ section below for membership options.

What memberships options do you offer?

UniSA Tennis offers social membership, competition, private coaching, and junior coaching. To get more details on any of these options, please click the links and/or keep reading this FAQ page.

Will I need to bring my own raquet or balls to play?

Nope! We are more than happy to provide you with a raquet and balls will always be provided. If you do have your own racquet, we encourage you to bring it along.

When's the best time to join?

Anytime! Checkout our FAQ's below to find out more about our social tennis, coaching, and competition options. We usually host a couple of FREE Come N' Try sessions at the start of each semsester that you are more than welcome to attend!

Do you have junior members?

Yes! UniSA Tennis has junior coaching on Monday afternoons and submit teams into the Tennis SA competition.

I play tennis at a state or higher level, what resources are available to me?

If you are a UniSA student, you are eligible for application as an elite athlete, which gives you access to flexible study options, grants, and more. You can check out the details here. You may also be very interested in UniNationals, where a grant can be used to financially assist. Please contact the club if you are interested!

Social Tennis

Is social tennis suitable for a complete beginner?

Absolutely! Practice makes perfect! If you are completely new and would like a bit of guidance, our organisers can help you learn how to hold the racquet and the basics of how to play/how to hit the ball.

I have purchaced social tennis membership; how do I start?

Awesome, welcome to the club! You can now attend as many social tennis sessions as you like to hone those skills and increase your fitness.

When and where are your social tennis sessions run?

We host two social session each week - one at Mawson Lakes Campus and one at Adelaide High School just off West Terrace in the City. For times and days, please check out our social tennis page here.

Are you going to add extra times/days?

If there is enough interest in extra days/times, UniSA Tennis will look to add additional social sessions to accommodate.

Do I need to wait for the Come N' Try sessions before I can join?

Nope. You can join as a social member all year round. We would love to see you on the courts!

Can I use or book the tennis courts outside of current sessions?

Yes and no. Unfortunately, the Mawson Lakes courts are unable to be used outside of our sessions., however external booking could be organised through the Facilities Management Unit at UniSA Mawson Lakes.  Fortunately, the Adelaide High School courts are free to use outside of social sessions, just not during school hours.
