Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

UniSA Wing Chun Kung Fu Club

I'm not a UniSA Student, can I still join?
Yes! Non-students are welcome to join! You'll need to purchase the UniSA Sport membership (an additional $30) and then you can join the club and train with us!!

I am under 18 or have a child under 18, can we/ they join the club?
Yes, but please remember our club is small, as such we don't have a dedicated kids class. We always recommend it's better for kids to train with those of a similar age. Please come to visit and decide for yourself if our club is a good fit.

How come the fees are so low?
Our club is grateful for the continued support of The University of South Australia / UniSA Sport and our dedicated instructors that help keep our costs to a minimum. We promise the value of the training is not reflected in the price.

What is your Wing Chun Linage?
Yip Man > Chu Shong Tin > Jim Fung

Do you have a belt or formal grading system?
No, however we do have a structured curriculum with four stages prior to an instructor/ senior practitioner level:

  • New member
  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

Is your club a member of the Australian Wing Chun Federation (AWCF)?
No, only to keep costs as low as possible we haven't joined as a club.

I train or have trained elsewhere (including AWCF schools) can I still train at your club?
Yes! We will never exclude you from training based on seeking training elsewhere. We encourage everyone to learn as much as they can to develop their skills. Adelaide University Sports Association members may only train as guests of the club which only excludes participation in club governance.
