UniSA Hockey Club
Our Mission:
UniSA Hockey Club was founded over fifty years ago in Adelaide, SA with a single goal: to offer safe, fun, competitive hockey to anyone desiring to play. Our club strives to provide a social and interactive playing environment for anyone wishing to give hockey a go.
Teams:
The UniSA Hockey Club currently enters 2 men's and 2 women's teams in the Hockey SA Metro League. We therefore cater for a wide range of skills and variety of fitness levels, including beginners.
Current Divisions include:
Men: Metro 4 and 5
Women: Metro 3 and 4
Training:
Training is on a synthetic pitch at MATE Stadium 10 Anna Meares Way, Gepps Cross SA 5094.
Women: Thursday 6:00-8:00pm
Men: Thursday 6:00pm-8:00pm
Winter Season:
The main season kicks off in April and runs until early September. Games are almost always played over the weekend on artificial surfaces around the Adelaide metro area. Game times are usually in the afternoon, however as most grounds have lighting facilities they are occasionally in the evening as well. On long weekends teams usually have a bye which allows players to go away for the weekend or simply recover.
Summer Season:
During the off season, Hockey SA runs various "Summer" competitions, in which the UniSA Lions actively participate. This usually involves a number of "mixed" teams playing on a Sunday afternoon in a much more casual environment. Summer matches are usually played at The Pines Stadium, Gepps Cross.
Social Environment:
If it was just about the game time many of us would be lying as the UniSA Lions boast one of the best social environments on the market. Our club is filled with both past and present UniSA students as well as Adelaide, Flinders and non Uni Students. All Lions know how to have a great time whether it's at a BBQ, Pub Crawl, Quiz Night, Formal, Cocktail Night or simply celebrating after a game.
