UniSA Sport Facilities Update - Effective from 20th November 2020

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - UNISA SPORT FACILITIES WILL RE-OPEN  ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23


Following the South Australian Government announcement that the current lockdown will be eased as of 11:59pm on Saturday, November 21 we will be reopening our gym and pool facilities on Monday, November 23. This will at be all facilities (Pridham Hall, City East, Magill and Mawson Lakes) with regular operating hours. Group fitness classes will also recommence on Monday as scheduled, however they may be at a reduced capacity.

Your memberships will automatically be reactivatated.

 
At this stage, the reopening doesn't include our courts, so Paid Play, social sport and club bookings will remain unavailable. However, we will update you via our website, Facebook and Instagram when that situation changes.

If you feel unwell or have had close contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, please stay home. Please remember to adhere to our COVID-19 protocols below;

• You are required to bring a gym towel. There will be no exceptions to the rule, NO TOWEL – NO WORKOUT. (Towels are available for purchase from all UniSA Sport reception counters for $8.00).

• If you feel unwell or have had any close contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, please stay home and do not attend the gym until you are cleared by a healthcare provider

• You must adhere to floor markers and social distancing requirements.

• Water fountains are unavaible, so please bring your own full water bottle.

• Ensure you use the hand sanitiser provided at the facilities entrance BEFORE and AFTER every visit and frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

• All UniSA Sport sites will be cashless and only EFTPOS payments will be available.
 
• You are required to bring a gym towel. There will be no exceptions to the rule, NO TOWEL – NO WORKOUT. (Towels are available for purchase from all UniSA Sport reception counters for $8.00).

• To enable appropriate social distancing, we have re-arranged the gym layouts and turned off every second piece of cardio equipment.

• Water fountains are unavaible, so please bring your own full water bottle.

• You are required to wipe down equipment before and after every use with fitwipes provided. Extra cleaning/sanitising spray will be made readily available
 
• Swimmers can be accompanied by only one carer who is not swimming.
 
Group Fitness classes at Pridham Hall will recommence from Monday 6th July 2020. You will be able to view our new timetable on our website here.

Prior to your first group fitness class:

• We strongly encourage participants to bring their own mat to Yoga and Pilates classes.

• You are required to bring a gym towel. There will be no exceptions to the rule, NO TOWEL – NO WORKOUT. (Towels are available for purchase from all UniSA Sport reception counters for $8.00)

• Casual visitors will need to provide their name, phone number and email adress prior to attending a class

• You are required to wipe down equipment before and after every use with fitwipes provided. Extra cleaning/sanitising spray will be made readily available

• Ensure you use the hand sanitiser provided BEFORE and AFTER every class.

• Class size will be capped at 30

• 15 minutes has been allowed between classes to ensure adequate cleaning of all equipment

• You must adhere to floor markers and social distancing requirements.  
On Monday 15th June all facility memberships were reactivated automatically. If you wish to cancel or keep your membership on suspension, please email unisasport@unisa.edu.au as soon as possible so we can process this for you.

UniSA Sport Clubs Update

Following the South Australian Government’s announcement of new restrictions on public venues and gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, UniSA clubs have cancelled all of its social competitions and indoor and outdoor club training sessions, from 11:59pm on Monday 16th November.

 Check out the UniSA Sport website for the list of clubs and for further information. Keep in touch with what is happening at your club through your club's social media channels.

When clubs recommence training and competitions, clubs will continue to have a COVID Safe Marshal in attendance at each session and be following their COVID Safe plan. 

UniSA Sport Events Updates

There are many opportunities for students, staff and alumni to get involved in intervarsity sport and events. Click on the events below for updated information.
 
Our Awards Night is being held on Tuesday 1st December. We will continue to monitor the government and university advice to determine whether we will need to implement any restrictions or amendments to the event.

Intervarsity Sport Updates

This year UniSport Australia has offered various online intervarsity events to provide an opportunity for students to represent their university. Watch this space for details of upcoming online events.
The SP2 and SP5 SA Challenge tournaments have concluded. Check out our website and social media for the event wrap up.
The 2020 UniSport Nationals event that was due to be held in Perth in September/October has been postponed; there will no longer be a national multi-sport event held this year. We are working with our UniSA Team Managers and Coaches to prepare and recruit for the 2021 UniSport Nationals. To register your interest in representing Team UniSA, visit our website
